Base Launches “Base Builder Quest” to Inspire Developers and Offer Commemorative NFTs

Digital artist Andre Oshea collaborates with Base to design exclusive NFTs for the platform’s first onchain challenge.

Base, an Ethereum L2 solution incubated by Coinbase, has recently launched the Base Builder Quest, its first onchain challenge, encouraging developers to engage with the platform and create decentralized applications (dApps) for the next generation of onchain users. Participants who successfully deploy a smart contract on the Base testnet will earn a non-transferable, commemorative NFT designed by renowned digital artist Andre Oshea.

Aimed at bringing the next billion people onchain, Base offers an easy and secure environment for developers to build dApps. The Base Builder Quest initiative seeks to attract more builders to the platform by offering them exclusive, commemorative NFTs, designed by Andre Oshea, as a reward for completing the challenge.

The Base Builder Quest comprises a few easy steps for deploying a smart contract on Base, including connecting a self-custodial wallet funded with testnet ETH, deploying the smart contract on the Base testnet, and minting the commemorative Builder NFT on the Base testnet. Participants will also be eligible to mint a second commemorative NFT following the transition to the Base mainnet.

Andre Oshea, the digital 3D artist behind the design of the Builder NFTs, has a history of working with various art mediums, including music production and digital 3D art. He has been active in the NFT space since 2021, collaborating with major brands such as Christie’s, Netflix, and the Grammys. Oshea’s collaboration with Base aims to inspire builders to look to the future and explore the endless possibilities that the platform offers.

Expressing his excitement about the collaboration, Oshea said, “The ability to express my artistic vision wouldn’t be possible without the builders pushing technology forward. Base, the new L2 incubated by Coinbase, empowers developers to continue building, which in turn empowers creators like myself to continue developing beautiful and financially sustainable careers. I’m honored to be part of this project.”
